Stephen Baldwin Suing Kevin Costner Over BP Oil Disaster Deal
Stephen Baldwin is suing fellow actor Kevin Costner for apparently duping him in the wake of the BP oil disaster earlier this year. The youngest of the Baldwin brothers claim that the "Dances with Wolves" star and his business partners tricked him into selling shares in a company that builds machines that separate oil from water.

According to the lawsuit filed in Louisiana federal court, and obtained by TMZ, Baldwin decided to become a 10 percent partner in an invention backed by Costner himself in April. The said device separates oil from water, and was developed during the filming of Costner's "Waterworld."

Apparently, Costner and his partners duped Baldwin by making it seem that the Oscar-winning actor had already sold his shares in the company, but he was still heavily invested.

Corals 'Severely Slimed' After Oil Spill, Sub Expedition Finds
Dec 20, 2010 4:00 PM ET
By Monica Heger,
OurAmazingPlanet Contributor
"It reminds me of going to a family funeral," said Charles Fisher, a biology professor at Penn State University, and chief scientist on a recent mission to study the impact of the Gulf oil spill on coral in the area.
Just like seeing extended family, "it's always fun to go into the deep sea, and we saw a lot of life," he said. "But, on the other hand the reason you're there is not a happy reason. Some corals have been severely slimed. Some are dead or dying."

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Woods Hole, Mass., led a nine-day mission this month to study the effects of the oil spill on life at the bottom of the sea. A team of scientists set out on a research vessel, spending just over a week in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico.

Equipped with both an autonomous submarine called Sentry, as well as a submersible called Alvin, the scientists photographed, mapped and collected samples from the Gulf nearly 24 hours a day. They completed six dives on Alvin, and set up a camera near the site of a dying coral reef, which will snap photos every hour for the next two months monitoring the coral's heath.   click here to view the photos read the full story  or use the following url  http://www.ouramazingplanet.com/scientists-monitor-oil-spill-impact-marine-biology-0877/

Crude Oil, Corexit and Now, Snake Oil To Fix It
By Deborah Dupre
Human Rights Examiner

Controversy has erupted along the Gulf Coast Wednesday after reports were confirmed that a man is selling bottles of pool shock to people poisoned from crude oil and Corexit. Up to 40 million people have been poisoned, many suffering standard neurotoxin exposure injuries that are so debilitating, they are buying what health professionals call snake-oil.

Gulf Coast region human rights defenders are dismayed about a bottled toxic liquid being sold for immediate relief to vulnerable people desperate for their right to health care, Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Since onset of the Gulf operation, that right has been violated by the U.S. government in collaboration with BP and the U.S. military represented by the Coast Guard.

While many people using the "alternative detox treatment" have been tight-lipped about it, the salesman selling the bottled chemicals, Dr. Wil Spencer, was brought to attention of Gulf Coast Barefoot Doctors (GCBD) on Tuesday. Click here to read the full story or use the following url

Censored Gulf News: Oily Corexit Still Bubbles Ashore
December 21st, 2010 1:56 am ET

Hurricane Creekkeeper John L. Wathen has presented a short documentary, Will Our Beaches Never Be The Same, highlighting the 8-month environmental and community damage from the Gulf of Mexico "crime of the millennium" against humanity and planet that continues. The oil keeps washing ashore. Black ops continue aerial spraying Corexit.

To demonstrate the unprecedented and ongoing crime with impunity, Mr. Wathern highlights Dauphin Island Beach in Alabama.

John Wathen is among Gulf reporters "dedicated to exposing the truth behind the BP oil disaster." His website is named BP Slick.

"Some knew they were saying goodbye to a lifestyle," he writes in his film introduction, "while others thought it would only be a short break in the action." Desperate fishermen say they are getting lost in the shuffle of the claims process
Quick, final payoffs offered in effort to avert oil-spill suits against BP
Wednesday, December 22, 2010

Staff writer
quote "ebates have raged about whether casino workers, wine distributors and a bevy of businesses located far from the Gulf's shores should collect oil spill claims payments. But almost lost in the shuffle is whether the very people most affected by the BP disaster -- fishers -- are being fully and fairly served by Kenneth Feinberg's claims process.

With the end of a woeful shrimp season and poor prospects for oystermen with commercial beds devastated by fresh-water diversions, many southeast Louisiana fishers, shrimpers, crabbers and oystermen are growing desperate".click here to read the full story  or use the following url  http://www.nola.com/news/t-p/frontpage/index.ssf?/base/news-16/1293002423130060.xml&coll=1

Could Cornstarch Have Helped End The Gulf Spill Agony Sooner?
Posted on: Wednesday, 22 December 2010, 10:09 CST
By Diana Lutz, Washington University in St. Louis

Experiments show that drilling mud that behaved more like quicksand and less like ketchup might have prevented the top-kill blowout

On May 25th, 2010, the online arm of Upstream, a newspaper for the international oil and gas industry, reported that British Petroleum had started top-kill procedures on the Macondo well in the Gulf of Mexico.

“The company said that the operation, which will pump heavy mud down the wellbore in an attempt to gain control of the oil flow and ultimately kill the well, began at 1 pm CST,” Upstream reported. click here to read the full story or use the following url http://www.redorbit.com/news/science/1970336/could_cornstarch_have_helped_end_the_gulf_spill_agony_sooner/

Half -Baked Justic? Corporate Prosecutions Are All Over The Map
Sue Reisinger
Corporate Counsel
December 23, 2010

The federal government ordered the company to fix some 300 safety problems at the refinery. BP paid a record $21 million fine and hired a new chief executive who vowed to make safety his top priority. But in 2009 the government cited BP again for failing to repair more than 200 of those violations and imposed another record fine.

Then, last April, faulty equipment at the refinery allowed thousands of pounds of cancer-causing chemicals to leak into the air for 40 days. Worse, no one told residents in the surrounding communities — or even BP's own workers — that they were breathing toxic air.

Then came what may be its worst and most costly disaster yet. Last spring, BP's Macondo oil well exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, killing 11 workers and causing the largest marine oil spill in history. Now the British company formally known as BP p.l.c. faces a criminal investigation and more than 300 civil suits over the spill. And that's not all — a growing chorus of victims, their families, and their lawyers are calling for executives to be jailed and the company shut down if it doesn't change. click here to read the full story   or use the following url http://www.law.com/jsp/cc/PubArticleCC.jsp?id=1202476577987&hubType=Top%20Story&emBOOMem_Its_Broke__How_the_Heck_Can_We_Fix_It

Steelworkers tell feds about oil industry safety woes
by: Mark Gruenberg
December 22 2010
WASHINGTON (PAI) - The rampant safety hazards exposed by the fatal, catastrophic fire, explosion and sinking of the BP Deepwater Horizon oil drilling platform in the Gulf of Mexico earlier this year unveil a catalogue of wide-ranging problems in the oil industry, the Steelworkers say. And they're safety problems industry executives ignore, downplay and refuse to deal with, the union adds.
Details presented by USW witnesses to the U.S. Chemical Safety Board, an independent agency investigating the blast, show problems are not just at drilling rigs but occur at refineries, pipelines and virtually all other areas of the oil industry. And accidents in oil affect not just those facilities but surrounding areas as well.  click here to read the full report  or use the following url http://peoplesworld.org/steelworkers-tell-feds-about-oil-industry-safety-woes/

How BP, the Gulf Coast Claims Facility and Ken Feinberg Stole Christmas and Our Hope For a Speedy Resolution to the Damages of the BP Spill

SENATE INVESTIGATION SAYS BRITISH GOVERNMENT TRADED TERRORIST FOR OIL
John G. Winder, The Cypress Times
Published 12/22/2010 - 12:40 p.m. CST

WASHINGTON, DC – On December 21, 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland. 270 people died, most were American. The only person convicted of this act of terrorism was Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi.
The Scottish government released Al Megrahi 18 months ago on humanitarian reasons, claiming Al Megrahi was dying of cancer. Megrahi remains alive in Tripoli, and now a U.S. Senate investigation says the British government put pressure on Scotland to release Al Megrahi in exchange for better access to oil in Megrahi’s home country of Libya. For Some Investigators, BP Oil Spill Is Just The Beginning
It's been nearly eight months since the Deepwater Horizon tragedy killed 11 workers and spilled millions of gallons of oil in the Gulf of Mexico. Since April, federal agencies have launched a series of separate investigations and this week the U.S. Chemical Safety Board held its first round of public hearings. Host Scott Simon talks with NPR's Jeff Brady about the continuing investigations into the causes of the BP oil spill.

Scientist Discover Evidence Of Significant Damage From BP Oil Spill
The oil BP tried to hide with nearly 2 million gallons of chemical dispersant has been discovered in thick layers on the sea floor in the Gulf of Mexico. The area of contamination covers several thousand square miles and scientists from the University of South Florida say the environmental damage is "significant."
All the marine life in the settled oil was dead, according to the scientists who saw the damage from research vessels.  Click here to view the report or use the following url http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/7666764-scientists-discover-evidence-of-significant-damage-from-bp-oil-spill

Hungry for any information when BP initially caused this hellish disaster I spent many hours viewing videos, web articles/reports, and even hanging on the BP America facebook page. After viewing a video on youtube I went to Wayne Brant the alleged BP America facebook moderator and posed the question "knowing that BP has drilled into a cache of methane could they have possibly prevented another "methane extinction" by siphoning/burning off this dangerous methane before it could build up and explode?" Of course I was laughed at, yet 7 months later here is a report from a reputable source showing the dangers of this methane leak.

The following report is from Helium.com... quote "Ominous reports are leaking past the BP Gulf salvage operation news blackout that the disaster unfolding in the Gulf of Mexico may be about to reach biblical proportions."  Click "here" to read the entire article. or use the following url http://www.helium.com/items/1882339-doomsday-how-bp-gulf-disaster-may-have-triggered-a-world-killing-event
